Testimonials on Memphis Home Improvement

To whom it may concern:

My wife Linda and I just completed our second project with Memphis Home Improvement (MHI) within a two year period. Adding an extra large third bay to our garage gave me the home workshop that I had wanted for years. The workmanship and attention to detail delivered by Faye Cook was unique in these days and times. Faye looked two weeks for the discontinued brick to match our seventeen year old house and had to ship it from near the Gulf Coast. When finished, the garage looked like it had always been there.

Our second project was a complete master bathroom remodel. MHI took the bathroom down to the bare concrete and sheetrock and started over. We were introduced to several designers skilled in guiding us through our selections of marble, cermaic tile, cabinets, glass and wall textures. The finished product includes a therapeutic air tub recommended by a physical therapist. We think the results are beautiful and plan to enjoy our new bath for many years to come.

Faye Cook, owner of the Memphis Home Improvement Company, was recommended to us by our original home builder of 1988. She has a reputation of quality work and taking care of her clients. Faye's MHI warranty covers two years instead of the normal one year. That alone provides the homeowner added satisfaction and comfort in knowing that they will not be left hanging by a contractor they can no longer get in contact with. Faye and MHI have been in business for over 40 years. I hope she'll be here for many more. Linda and I are saving our pennies for our next project with Faye.

Sincerely,

To whom it may concern:

About a year ago I contacted several builders about adding a sunroom to my home. After many years of hearing nightmare stories from others about bad experiences with builders, I was somewhat apprehensive to say the least. Only one of the builders I spoke with impressed me and gave me a feeling of confidence in her ability to complete the project to my satisfication. That person was Faye Cook of Memphis Home Improvement Company.

Ms. Cook responded immediately to my inquiry and carried me to see examples of her work. She is honest, trustworthy, a tireless worker and very knowledgeable of her field. Ms. Cook is a woman of her word and a true professional. My sunroom was completed in a timely manner and turned out more beautiful than I ever expected. Not only did I improve my home, but also gained a new friend, Faye Cook.

We were totally satisfied and impressed with the professionalism & quality of work provided by MHIC on our remodeling job about 9 years ago. As a result of that experience, when we decided on a major renovation project on '05, our first and only contact was Faye Cook at MHIC.

The project consisted, in part, of adding a sunroom, a 2-car garage, a half-bath, and a complete update of the master bath and kitchen. We wanted a contractor who would be creative in providing ideas and suggestions, and who would offer the quality of service we demanded. Our project is now complete and we could not be more pleased with the end results. MHIC is committed to providing impeccable service and quality to their clients. We can attest to the exemplary workmanship and professionalism that MHIC will offer to anyone seeking the highest standards in home remodeling.

Dear Faye:

We have not forgotten - just slow!

Malsa and I thank you for that great dinner at Jarrett's Restuarant last month. It was quiet and easy on a cold night, and the food was excellent.

Also, thanks for a great job on our carport project. We are very pleased with it.

Sincerely,
The Treece's

We are extremely pleased with our kitchen remodeling. We chose Faye with Memphis Home Improvement because she has many years of experience and extensive contacts within the business. We felt confident in her ability to get the job done. We are both busy people so we needed someone who would manage the details of the construction. With a major construction project like this we discovered some unexpected challenges, but Faye stayed on top of the situation and made sure they got resolved. The end product reflects quality.

Choosing a contractor is very difficult if you do not have experience with the construction business. Approaching a major renovation of our home, my wife, Pam, and I had limited experience. We added rooms and completed renovations to every room in our house effectively remaking our home. Here are some questions we learned to ask in making that choice. It is our opinion that we could not have found a better contractor than Faye Cook to answer every question. She excelled in every step in the renovation. She is the best.

  1. Does the contractor listen to what you want to do? Many contractors will tell you what they think is good for you. Others will tell you what to do based on what will give them the greatest profit. You want someone who will do what you want to do. Remember, you're the one who are paying for the project and will live with the result. The house and renovation should fit how you want to live, not someone else's idea of how you should live.
  2. Can the contractor anticipate problems in your design and/or recommend improvements in materials? A good contractor should have experience with the results of designs. Based on that experience, she/he should be able to at least tell you of the consequences of your design choices and inform you of the results if she/he thinks one of your design choices may not fit what you are trying to accomplish.
  3. How detailed is the contractor's estimate? Some will itemize. Others will itemize a few parts of the renovation and build in large "miscellaneous" items. Or, obvious items will not be included. Watch out. Those miscellaneous items will suddenly balloon. Or, the excluded obvious items will become add on's. Yes there are likely to be unexpected glitches in any renovation. You never know what's behind that wall or floor that hasn't been touched for many years. Nevertheless, itemize to the extent possible so that you can have clear underderstandings and make informed choices with your contractor when the unexpected occurs.
  4. What is the contractor's reputation? This can be one of the most important steps you can take. Talk to former clients, especially those who seem to have tastes like yours. Visit her/his prior jobs. Former clients who are happy with a contractor's work will be happy to show others and talk about their experience.
  5. A critical question about a contractor is her/his subcontractors. Who are they? What are their reputations? This is another critical step in selecting a contractor. That's the quality of the work you will receive. What are the subcontractors' opinions about your contractor?

A most important question? What is the relation between the contractor and client after the project is finished? Is the contractor responsive to subsequent problems? Do client's return to the contractor for follow-up work? Remember, houses require continual upkeep after the renovation. Is the contractor helpful in guiding you in that upkeep? If the answer is yes, you have a good contractor. Faye Cook excelled on each question.
